Deadwood, South Dakota is located western South Dakota.

The city is at the northern edge of the Black Hills, not far from Rapid City.

In the early days of the West, outlaws found refuge in the Black Hills. Wild Bill Hickok was gunned down in Deadwood at the Old Style Saloon #10, holding Aces and Eights, the dead man's hand.

Deadwood was a boom town in the 1870s when gold was discovered in the Black Hills.

For many decades, Homestake Mining Company mined millions of dollars of gold from mine shafts deep in the earth near Deadwood. Today,

Today, Deadwood merchants find treasure in the pockets of gamblers and tourists who flock to this historic city for fun and excitement.
