Grizzly bears and conflict with people in Montana

The conflict between grizzly bears and man in the northern Rockies continues with negative consequences for the bears and man, alike.  It’s clear that bear habitation of an area is not compatible with recreational human activities, such as hiking, biking, and camping.

As such, wildlife managers have two choices:  accept the conflict and the damage done by the bears and, at the same time, refrain from harming the bears; or chose to end the presence of both grizzlies and people on the same land.  Keeping one or the other out of particular areas may be the best solution for achieving an enduring peace.

For the long run, the stand-off between nature and man is not a plan or realistic goal.
